Murray Plastics Selected for Apprenticeship 101 Program

Murray Plastics is one of the first recipients, along with Georgia Poultry Laboratory Network, of cost-reimbursement for the Apprentiship 101 program through the Gainesville and Hall County Development Authority.

The Appalachian Regional Commission committed $300,000 toward the pilot program to the Gainesville and Hall County Development Authority to provide up to $15,000 of cost reimbursement to companies that sponsor a 2-year apprentice through one of the five programs at Lanier Technical College:  Industrial Maintenance/Mechatronics, General Machining, CNC Machining, Welder/Fabricator and Quality Technician.

The funds can support up to 20 apprenticeships at Hall County companies. As the pilot has shown success, companies in the Worksource Georgia Mountains 13-county region may also receive $15,000 of cost reimbursement for the 2-year #APP101 program offered at both Lanier Technical College and North Georgia Technical College.

Murray Plastics specializes in custom plastic injection molding. For 18 years, Murray Plastics has been serving customers as well as manufacturing companies in the Greater Hall area. The company employs 37 people, and with each new year they strive to promote manufacturing in America and in Georgia specifically. In 2016, Murray Plastics added six new jobs, two injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. The company attributes their success to continually working to improve the flow of operations to serve their increasing sales to both new and existing customers. Murray Plastics is anticipating a 15% increase in annual sales revenue for the third year in a row.

They are active supporters of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, in particular the Industry Roundtable and the workforce development component of the Vision 2030 initiative. They also support the Gainesville Rotary Club – taking full work days, and time away from the plant, to build wheelchair ramps for those in need. In keeping with the spirit of philanthropy, Murray Plastics hires from recovery programs and transition centers in order to give people a second chance in life and in their career.

Proud Member of the Georgia Manufacturing Alliance

We are a professional organization on a mission to create profitable business connections for our members through direct referrals and the events we provide. Since 2008 GMA has been the most active group of manufacturing professionals in the state.

We see businesses every day that send work out of the state and occasionally out of the country. Often, this work could be done locally, sometimes with companies in the same parking lot. This trend continues to grow as a direct result of not knowing who in the area has the capabilities to do the work. We simply don't know our neighbors.
