Made in the USA: Is Domestic Plastic Parts Design and Manufacturing Profitable?

Plastic part design atlanta,Plastic part manufacturing

In new global economy, many have been led some to believe that it’s just no longer feasible to have plastic parts designed and manufactured in the USA.   Detractors point to lower costs for overseas production as the reason. So what’s the argument for domestic?

Let’s dig into 3 reasons why home-grown plastic parts design and manufacturing wins.

1) The costs can be off-set

Surveys show that most Americans prefer to buy products made in the USA, even if they have to pay a premium for it. According to a survey by Boston Consulting Group, nearly two thirds of American consumers said they would willingly pay up to 10% more for those products.

2) International popularity

According to research by the DIRC, even Chinese consumers prefer American made products and are willing to pay more for them. This may comes as a surprise, given China’s perceived dominance in the manufacturing sector.

3) Plastics create jobs

The plastics industry employs nearly 1 million people in the United States. If you also include plastics suppliers, that number jumps to almost 1.4 million jobs.   Murray Plastics believes in U.S. manufacturing.  We endeavor to source our materials and sell our products in Georgia as proud supporters of the Georgia Manufacturing Alliance.   Our desire is to have Murray Plastics manufacture your products or components in the U.S. with a  globally competitive cost and lead time.
